When You 're Tired of Trying
Sometimes in life we get tired.
Not the ordinary end-of -day kind of tired. The deeper kind. The kind that settles into the bones after we've been trying for a long time. We get tired of trying. We get tired of hoping. We get tired of believing that things will shift, that the effort will eventually mean something, that the light is still coming.
It can feel like failure. Like we're giving up. Like we've lost the fight.
But tiredness isn't always a sign that we've failed. Sometimes it's a quiet signal that we've been running on empty for too long. That the constant pushing, the endless hoping, the relentless believing has left us hollow. And in those moments, the kindest thing we can do is stop.
Be kind to yourself. Rest.
Sit back. Let the world keep turning without your constant effort for a while. Look out the window. Watch the light change. Notice the ordinary things you usually rush past. Enjoy the view - not because everything is fixed, but because you are finally still enough to see it.
It's in that stillness that something soft and unexpected begins to return.
We find ourselves again. Not the driven, striving version we've been forcing ourselves to be, but the quieter self that was always there underneath the effort. In the quiet, inspiration starts to whisper again. Hope, which felt so heavy when we were carrying it alone, becomes lighter. Motivations doesn't have to be forced; it begins to rise on its own, slowly, the way the tide comes back in after the lowest ebb.
Rest isn't the opposite of progress. Sometimes it's the only way progress can continue. The pause is not the end of the story. It's the space where the next chapter is allowed to begin.
So, if you're tired right now - of trying, of hoping, of believing - let yourself be tired. Be gentle with the part of you that has carried so much for so long. Sit back. Enjoy the view, even if the view is just the quiet of your own breath.
You're not done. You're just resting. And in the stillness, you will find your way forward again.
xoxo,
Meenakshi
